THE POSITION
Central San, a progressive public utility, is seeking a Risk Management Technician. This limited duration position is expected to last between three to five years; it will be assigned to the Administration Department. Under the direction of the Risk Management Administrator, this position will be responsible for performing technical and administrative support to the Risk Management Division with duties in the program areas of Emergency Management, Security, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). Duties of the position will include: Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating emergency and business continuity plans, procedures, checklists, and resource inventories. Evaluate risk management procedures and practices and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Develop, implement, and maintain procedures to manage elements of security, emergency preparedness, and ERM programs. Assist Risk Management staff in developing programs, procedures, and practices to address new or evolving risks. Troubleshoot and provide initial responses to customer concerns routed to Risk Management. Assist with investigation, evaluation, and resolution of third-party tort claims and litigation as directed. Coordinate logistics for emergency preparedness training, drills, and full-scale exercises using Outlook scheduling tools and working with administrative staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) years of full-time experience supporting programs in risk and emergency management, or related fields.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required for some positions.
FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
certificates must be earned within the first year of employment
SELECTION PROCEDURE

A resume may be attached but is not a substitute for a completed application and supplemental questionnaire. Responses such as "See resume" will not be considered. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process. Human Resources shall determine the examination steps to be used for this recruitment. The steps may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, practical examination, application screening, and/or oral board examination. One or more of these steps may be used and in any order. At the end of the testing process, candidates passing all of the examination steps will have their names placed on a Limited Duration eligibility list. The list is valid for six months and may be extended up to an additional six months at the request of the hiring department. The list may be used to fill future limited duration positions in the classification. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the examination process. All applicants will be notified of the results of the review process. Successful candidates not currently employed in regular status by the District must pass a pre-employment physical examination to be considered for appointment.
