Job Description

North Dakota State Hospital is seeking a Workplace Safety & Risk Manager in the Jamestown, ND area. North Dakota State Hospital (NDSH) is seeking a Workplace Safety & Risk Manager to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive facility wide safety program. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating hazards; ensuring staff are properly trained and certified; and embedding a proactive culture of safety across all departments. The Workplace Safety & Risk Manager will collaborate closely with Facilities, Environmental Services, and Groundskeeping to monitor and improve safety in high risk areas such as maintenance, the power and heating plant, construction projects, chemical handling, and heavy equipment operations. A key component of this role includes coordinating with the North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) and other external agencies to facilitate employee safety certifications, continuing education, and compliance tracking. To succeed in this position, you should be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. The ideal candidate is a hands on leader who can identify risks, ensure staff competency in safe work practices, and foster accountability. To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field, OR a combination of education and experience which demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience in healthcare, industrial, or plant operations is preferred. Location This position is required to work onsite at the State Hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota.
