Role Description The Entry-Level Tax Associate is a temporary, on-site role based in Middlebury, IN. This role involves assisting clients with individual tax return preparation, gathering and organizing financial information, and accurately entering data into tax preparation software under guidance and training. The associate will explain basic tax concepts in a clear, supportive manner, help clients understand available credits and deductions, and follow established procedures to ensure compliance with tax laws and company policies. Day-to-day tasks also include maintaining client confidentiality, supporting office operations such as appointment scheduling and document handling, and collaborating with colleagues to provide a positive client experience. Qualifications Ability to learn and apply basic tax concepts, IRS guidelines, and state tax regulations. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, documentation, and record keeping. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients and team members. Customer service orientation, with the ability to listen, ask clarifying questions, and provide clear explanations. Basic computer proficiency, including use of tax preparation or office software, email, and electronic file management. Ability to work in an on-site office environment, manage time effectively, and follow established workflows. High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or interest in accounting, finance, or business is beneficial. Willingness to complete H&R Block training programs and maintain any required certifications or continuing education.
