Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our team and contribute to our commitment to financial excellence. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing tax-related activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help streamline tax procedures, optimize financial operations, and uphold the highest standards of accuracy and integrity. Responsibilities Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including balance sheet and general ledger analysis, to support accurate financial reporting. Assist with regulatory reporting requirements, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and other statutory filings. Perform financial statement preparation, interpretation, and report writing to provide clear insights into fiscal health. Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to tax positions and financial transactions. Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, and other accounting tools to manage data entry, analysis, and reporting tasks efficiently. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and accounts payable/receivable management. Maintain detailed records of journal entries, account analyses, bank reconciliations, and audit trail documentation. Apply technical accounting principles including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), accrual accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, and securities law where applicable. Mentor junior team members on best practices in non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or other specialized areas as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a focus on tax or financial reporting. Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, VLOOKUP functions in Excel data analysis, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation. Familiarity with regulatory compliance accounting including SOX controls and regulatory reporting requirements. Experience working with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel is essential. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data using spreadsheets and financial analysis techniques. Knowledge of GAAP standards along with technical accounting expertise related to tax regulations and legal frameworks like wills & estate law or securities law is advantageous. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
