Description We are looking for a Tax Staff team member to join a public accounting team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role supports a broad range of tax and financial service engagements for businesses, individuals, trusts, and estates while contributing to high-quality client service. The position is well suited for an accounting team member who enjoys balancing tax compliance work with client support, financial statement preparation, and ongoing technical growth.
Responsibilities:
Prepare federal, state, and local tax filings for individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
Support the development of tax forecasts and estimated payment calculations by gathering financial data and assisting with analysis.
Investigate tax notices, draft responses, and work with internal team members to help resolve client tax matters efficiently.
Assist in compiling and reviewing financial statements for privately held companies in accordance with firm standards.
Contribute to tax planning and advisory projects by organizing information, researching issues, and helping identify practical solutions for clients.
Strengthen technical accounting and tax knowledge through continued learning, training participation, and hands-on engagement work.
Represent the firm in recruiting efforts by participating in candidate outreach, events, and relationship-building activities.
Engage in industry associations and community events to support firm visibility and develop local business connections. Requirements
1 to 3 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably within a public accounting environment.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
CPA license in progress, actively held, or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to learning, attention to detail, and expanding technical expertise.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat.
Experience preparing individual and corporate tax returns.
Familiarity with CCH ProSystem or CCH ProSystem fx is preferred.
