Available Help for . Performs various clerical duties involved with registering motor vehicles, including collecting taxes and fees, and issuing receipts. This position also encompasses various clerical tasks associated with the property tax department (i.e., collection of taxes). Assists the general public with questions, problems, or transactions related to motor vehicle and property taxes.
Essential Duties:
Assist the general public, dealers, taxpayers, or title companies in person or over the telephone with questions or problems pertaining to motor vehicles or taxes;
Collect monies by check, money order, cash, or credit card, directly from the public or by mail, for the motor vehicle and property tax department;
Transfers motor vehicle and boat/boat motor titles and licenses and registers liens on titles;
Collects monies and issues receipts for licenses for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission;
Prepares correspondence related to property taxes and motor vehicle matters;
Researches title questions on computer network;
Researches motor vehicles on DMV network;
Process and issue temporary license plates permits and Handicap placards;
Processes motor vehicle and property tax department collections by examining checks, counting monies, and balancing the till sheet daily;
Issues new and replacement license plates, registrations, and stickers
Assists in maintaining public records and retention schedules;
Issues/Check tax certificates and verify that no back taxes are due on property;
