Locations:
McAllen, Mission, Weslaco, Pharr, Alamo, Edinburg, or San Carlos 12-30 hours per week based on location 7-10 weeks based on location Provide supervision of United Way of South Texas' Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at one or several VITA sites. Oversee, support, and assist volunteers in servicing clients with FREE tax preparation. Ensure the site is following the quality site requirements listed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Unpaid pre-employment trainings will be provided. Attend to all required trainings and pass the Advanced Tax Certified Exam & Site Coordinator Exam. (Free materials & trainings will be provided. Trainings are unpaid) Ensure all IRS quality site requirements are in place at VITA sites Supervise all volunteer tax preparation activities Ensure confidentiality and privacy for each VITA client personal tax information Ensure timely filing of all electronic tax returns prepared by volunteer preparers each day and correcting rejected returns Responsible for closing sites at designated times Meet twice a month via Zoom for United Way of South Texas progress report meetings (not paid) Submit the required documentation to the VITA program coordinator Comply with all VITA site partner's policies, procedures, and regulations Strong written and verbal communication Organizational and management skills Advanced certification required (training & materials provided) Ability to work independently Flexible work schedule Ability to work with clients/families/site coordinators from diverse backgrounds Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to problem solve and work under pressure Understanding of tax laws and ability to answer general tax questions. Speak, read, write in English and Spanish Ability to operate a computer Knowledge of Google Drive and Excel preferred Standing, sitting, bending Able to lift up to 25 pounds
