Ontic is a rapidly growing aerospace manufacturer, privately owned by a leading global private equity firm CVC Capital Partners. We are seeking a strategic and results-driven US Tax Manager for an assignment up to 9 months.
This person will be responsible for managing the Companys U.S. federal, state, and local income tax compliance and reporting, while ensuring compliance with ASC 740 and Income Taxes. This role partners closely with the Accounting, Finance, Legal, FP&A, and external tax advisors to support quarterly and annual tax provisions, tax planning initiatives, audits, and strategic business transactions. Experience with UK tax and multinational tax matters is highly desirable to support the Companys global operations.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented tax professional with strong technical expertise in U.S. taxation, ASC 740, and public company reporting requirements
You will report to the Group Controller and will have a hybrid work structure (3 days in) in Creedmoor, NC. To be considered for the US Tax Manager opening, here's what you'll need to bring with you: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA license required (or actively pursuing with significant relevant experience).
6-10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or industry.
Strong knowledge of: U.S. federal income tax, State and local taxation and ASC 740.
Experience preparing or reviewing corporate tax provisions.
Experience managing external tax advisors.
Advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience with ERP systems such as Visual, Epicor and Syteline is preferred.
Experience with UK corporation tax and multinational tax reporting is preferred.
Exposure to transfer pricing and international tax planning is preferred.
As a US Tax Manager, you will: Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
Calculate current and deferred tax provisions, effective tax rate (ETR), deferred tax assets and liabilities, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).
Prepare tax-related financial statement disclosures
Analyze changes in tax laws and accounting guidance and assess the financial reporting implications.
Support the external audit process by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries related to income taxes.
Manage the preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns through external service providers.
Ensure timely filing of all tax returns, estimated tax payments, and related tax compliance obligations.
Monitor state tax nexus and apportionment considerations.
Coordinate responses to federal and state tax notices and examinations.
Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the Companys effective tax rate and cash tax position.
Evaluate tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, financing transactions, and intercompany activities.
Assist with research and documentation related to tax positions and technical accounting issues.
Support transfer pricing initiatives in collaboration with external advisors.
Assist with UK tax compliance and reporting activities in coordination with external advisors.
Monitor developments in UK and international tax legislation affecting the Company.
Maintain and improve tax accounting processes and internal controls in compliance with SOX requirements.
Enhance tax provision and compliance processes through automation and process improvements.
Ensure adequate documentation of tax positions and accounting conclusions.
Partner with Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Payroll, Legal, and HR on tax matters.
Provide tax guidance for new business initiatives and commercial contracts.
Support due diligence for acquisitions and other strategic transactions.
