Job Requirements Our Tax Controversy Practice represents individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in disputes with federal, state, and local tax authorities. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Enrolled Agent to join our growing team, with a focus on taxpayer representation in complex IRS collection and resolution matters.

Position Overview:

As an Enrolled Agent on our Tax Controversy team, you will represent clients directly before the IRS in collection and resolution matters, working closely with attorneys on complex cases. This role requires hands-on representation experience — not standard tax preparation — including negotiating resolutions, analyzing IRS account data, and preparing detailed financial disclosures on behalf of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Represent clients before the IRS in collection matters, including Offers in Compromise (OICs), Installment Agreements, and Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status determinations. Participate in Collection Due Process (CDP) and Collection Appeal Program (CAP) hearings on behalf of clients. Analyze IRS transcripts via e-Services to assess account status, compliance history, and resolution options. Prepare and complete Forms 433-A and 433-B (Collection Information Statements) for individual and business clients. Communicate directly with the IRS on behalf of clients to resolve outstanding tax liabilities. Collaborate with attorneys and other tax professionals on complex, multi-faceted controversy matters. Maintain accurate, organized case files and documentation throughout the resolution process. Interact with clients in a professional, timely, and empathetic manner throughout often stressful matters.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED

Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license in good standing, with a current PTIN. Minimum of 3+ years of experience specifically in taxpayer representation and tax controversy work — standard tax return preparation alone does not meet this requirement. Explicit, hands-on experience negotiating Offers in Compromise (OICs), complex Installment Agreements, and Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status. Direct experience participating in Collection Due Process (CDP) or Collection Appeal Program (CAP) hearings. High proficiency analyzing IRS transcripts via e-Services. Demonstrated skill completing Forms 433-A and 433-B. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
