CFO's Domain is a national accounting, finance, and finance systems consulting and recruiting organization serving CFOs and their stakeholders. Our consultants are experienced practitioners who support clients through mission-critical deliverables, periods of transformation, capacity constraints, and complex finance/accounting initiatives. Consultants receive competitive compensation, benefits, access to CFO's Domain's broader recruiting network, and exposure to roles that support continued professional growth.
THE OPPORTUNITY
CFO's Domain is supporting two separate interim Cash Flow Modeling Consultant openings for California-based businesses. One engagement is with a software/SaaS-oriented company, and the other is with an agriculture/production-oriented business. Both organizations require strong cash flow visibility, practical financial modeling support, and near-term forecasting tools that leadership can use to manage liquidity, working capital, operating decisions, and scenario planning. The consultants will be responsible for building, improving, or maintaining cash flow models that translate operating activity into clear financial forecasts. These roles are well suited for hands-on finance consultants who can work independently, partner with leadership, gather assumptions from cross-functional stakeholders, and create models that are accurate, flexible, and easy for management to use. The ideal consultant brings strong FP&A, treasury, strategic finance, or cash forecasting experience, with the ability to build models from the ground up and adapt them to the needs of different business models.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Build, improve, or maintain short-term and medium-term cash flow forecasting models. Develop models that provide visibility into cash receipts, disbursements, working capital, liquidity, & funding needs. Partner with finance leadership to understand current cash forecasting gaps, reporting needs, and decision-making priorities. Gather assumptions from accounting, finance, sales, operations, supply chain, production, customer success, or other business stakeholders as applicable. Create flexible scenarios to evaluate changes in revenue timing, collections, expenses, payroll, vendor payments, inventory, capital spending, seasonality, and other operating drivers. For the software / SaaS engagement, support cash flow modeling tied to recurring revenue, bookings, billings, collections, churn, renewals, customer payment timing, payroll, operating expenses, and growth assumptions. For the agriculture / production-oriented engagement, support cash flow modeling tied to seasonality, production cycles, inventory, crop or product timing, vendor payments, labor, capital expenditures, working capital, and customer receipts. Reconcile model outputs to actual results and refine assumptions based on accounting data, historical trends, and leadership feedback. Build reporting views that allow leadership to understand cash trends, near-term liquidity, risks, and opportunities. Prepare summary outputs, dashboards, or presentation-ready analysis for executive stakeholders. Identify process improvements that strengthen cash forecasting accuracy, data collection, model ownership, and reporting cadence. Document key assumptions, model logic, data sources, update procedures, and handoff materials for ongoing internal use. Provide practical recommendations around cash visibility, forecast discipline, and financial decision support.
