$115,000 - $130,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package About the Opportunity A growing organization in the construction and project-based services industry is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to help drive the accounting and financial operations of the business. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, contribute to strategic financial initiatives, and play a key role in strengthening accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with leadership experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and a passion for building efficient processes in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages. Assist in the preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Develop, maintain, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. Coordinate external audit activities and provide supporting schedules and documentation. Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, streamline workflows, and increase efficiency. Support ERP optimization projects and financial systems enhancements. Mentor and develop accounting team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience working within ERP/accounting systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience with construction or project-based accounting environments is highly preferred.
