full-time Company An established and growing heavy civil construction organization is seeking an experienced finance leader to oversee all accounting and financial operations. This role will serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance while building scalable processes to support continued growth.

Job duties include:

Leadership & Strategic Finance Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives. Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team. Drive continuous improvement across the finance function through process optimization, talent development, and accountability. Serve as a strategic business partner, providing insight to support operational and financial decision-making. Foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and financial discipline. Financial Management & Reporting Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts that align with project schedules and billing cycles. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Lead Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. Monitor project profitability through cost-to-complete analysis, margin tracking, and variance reporting. Deliver executive-level reporting packages including financial statements, cash flow analysis, backlog reporting, and operational metrics. Construction Operations & Job Costing Oversee job cost accounting across active projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking and forecasting. Partner with operations and project management teams to improve financial visibility and decision-making. Drive discipline around change order tracking, billing, collections, and project closeout. Maintain accurate backlog reporting and support bonding and lending requirements. Ensure compliance with subcontractor payment requirements, lien waiver processes, and contract obligations. Equipment & Asset Management Monitor equipment profitability, utilization, and cost recovery. Establish and maintain labor burden and equipment rates to ensure accurate project costing. Support owned versus rented equipment analysis and capital planning initiatives. Oversee equipment depreciation and asset tracking within the ERP environment. Process Improvement & Systems Lead financial process improvement initiatives across the organization. Serve as the primary finance lead for ERP administration, reporting, and optimization. Partner with operations to improve system integration and data integrity between field and financial platforms. Evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency and reporting capabilities. External Partnerships & Risk Management Serve as a primary financial contact for lenders, surety providers, auditors, insurance partners, and other external stakeholders. Support annual audits, tax filings, financial reviews, and bonding requirements. Monitor financial risks and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with licensing, tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements. Team Development Recruit, develop, and mentor accounting personnel. Establish clear performance expectations and professional development plans. Assess team capabilities and identify opportunities to strengthen the finance function as the business grows. Qualifications 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities. Experience with a self-perform heavy civil, marine, infrastructure, or related contractor strongly preferred. Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting (ASC 606), and cash flow management. Experience with Vista by Viewpoint required; implementation and configuration experience preferred. Demonstrated success leading accounting teams and improving financial processes. Strong analytical, communication, and business partnering skills. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. CPA, CMA, or CCIFP designation preferred.
