Responsible for preparing, implementing, and reporting the financial activities of the utility district. These responsibilities include the preparation of monthly financial reports for the board, monthly bank account reconciliations for all accounts, preparation of monthly tax returns, preparation of monthly sewer reports, preparation of bi-weekly payroll, coordination of the annual audit, maintaining internal controls, cash management (including disbursements), employee benefit coordination, and human resource coordination, including record keeping.
Knowledge/Skills:
Principles and practices embodied in the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
Management and cost accounting practices, policies and procedures related to the work.
Business data processing principles and computer user applications, including MS Excel and report-writing programs, particularly as related to statistical analysis and data management.
Operate a computer proficiently and utilize a variety of software and database applications.
Principles and practices of financial/statistical/comparative analysis technique.
Requirements:
Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; prepare correspondence, reports, and documents.
Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines.
Provide management with information vital to decision making.
Respond to emergency situations in an effective manner.
Understand, explain, and apply policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records and files.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
Experience/Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or a related field.
A CPA is preferred.
A minimum of three years accounting experience/knowledge of public utility or government accounting principles and financial reporting.
Pay:
$84,911.93 - $102,259.52 per year
