West Side Salvage , now operating as Apex Response , is searching for an Assistant Controller to join its team in Atkins, IA. As the Assistant Controller , you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business while leading the on-site accounting team. You'll partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership team to streamline processes, support job costing, and establish repeatable systems that enable accurate reporting and strategic decision-making. With experienced financial leadership in place, you'll have the guidance and structure needed to grow into expanded responsibilities over time. Job Duties:

Lead and develop a small accounting team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and process improvement Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and reconciliations Manage full-cycle accounts payable including invoice processing, purchase order matching, vendor payments, communication, and 1099 reporting Perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare journal entries to support accurate monthly close Prepare draft financial statements and job cost reports, tracking labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead by project

Job Requirements:
