$160,000 - $190,000 per year Job Details - We are seeking a hands-on Construction Controller to report directly to the CFO and take meaningful ownership of the company's accounting and financial operations. This is an ideal opportunity for a Controller who enjoys being close to the numbers, understands the construction industry, and wants the autonomy to improve processes, reporting, and financial visibility. You will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while partnering closely with the CFO, project teams, and operational leadership. The goal is to bring someone into the organization who can independently run the accounting function, provide meaningful financial insight, and progressively take responsibilities off the CFO's plate. This position currently sits within a lean three-person finance/accounting team and includes direct management of one Bookkeeper. What You'll Do Take ownership of the company's full-cycle accounting function Oversee month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and financial reporting Manage and analyze WIP reporting, job costing, and project accounting Monitor project financial performance, profitability, and cost-to-complete Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial projections Perform variance analysis and provide actionable financial insight to leadership Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, and account reconciliations Partner with project managers and operations teams regarding project financial performance Improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and overall financial visibility Support cash flow management and banking activities Assist with revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting Oversee AIA/progress billing, change orders, and project-related accounting as applicable Manage and develop the Bookkeeper Serve as a trusted financial partner to the CFO and executive leadership team Help build the accounting and finance infrastructure necessary to support continued company growth What We're Looking For Must Have Strong construction accounting and finance experience Hands-on experience with WIP reporting, job costing, and project accounting Full-cycle accounting experience, including: General ledger Month-end close AP/AR Reconciliations Financial reporting Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and project profitability Proven ability to independently own an accounting function Strong understanding of construction financials and project-level accounting Leadership experience and the ability to manage and develop accounting staff Ability to partner effectively with both finance and operational leadership Nice to Have Revenue recognition / percentage-of-completion accounting AIA and progress billing Cost-to-complete reporting Change order management Cash flow management Banking, surety, or bonding experience Multi-entity or multi-project construction accounting Experience partnering directly with project managers and operations Experience with Sage, CMiC, Deltek, or another construction/project accounting ERP Military/veteran background is a significant plus A bit about us: - We are a growing construction organization with 100+ employees and a strong track record of continued financial and operational growth.
