Full-Time About the Opportunity A confidential, growing manufacturing organization is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its Finance team. This position will partner closely with senior Finance leadership and serve as a key accounting and business partner to Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Human Resources, IT, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise combined with hands-on experience in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory, financial reporting, internal controls, ERP systems, and team leadership . Key Responsibilities Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, financial schedules, and supporting documentation. Oversee general ledger integrity and preparation of financial statements and management reporting. Analyze financial results, operating performance, variances, costs, and profitability for senior leadership. Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and pricing/bid reviews. Oversee manufacturing cost accounting , including standard costing, WIP, overhead absorption, inventory valuation, labor/material variances, and COGS. Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to analyze product costs, inventory, manufacturing performance, and operational variances. Maintain strong inventory controls, including cycle counts, physical inventories, excess/obsolete inventory, and inventory adjustments. Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial processes. Coordinate internal and external audits and support tax and regulatory reporting requirements. Support government-contract accounting and compliance requirements, including FAR/DFARS and cost allowability , where applicable. Oversee the effective use of ERP accounting, costing, and inventory systems. Identify opportunities to improve accounting, reporting, reconciliation, forecasting, and financial-planning processes through automation and technology. Partner with IT and business leaders on ERP enhancements, system implementations, data integrity, and process improvements. Support the responsible implementation of AI-enabled finance and productivity tools while maintaining appropriate security, controls, and data governance. Lead, coach, and develop accounting personnel while managing priorities and ensuring high-quality execution. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. MBA, advanced degree, or CPA preferred . 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience , preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong experience with financial close, financial reporting, manufacturing cost accounting, inventory, internal controls, and audits. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation. Hands-on knowledge of standard costing, WIP, inventory valuation, overhead absorption, and variance analysis. Experience working with ERP-based accounting, costing, and inventory systems; SYSPRO experience is a plus . Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Power BI, SQL, financial reporting, planning systems, or data analytics experience is a plus. Government contracting, FAR/DFARS, or regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, implementing systems, and leveraging automation. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders. Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop an accounting team. Why Consider This Opportunity?
