This is a key leadership position for an accounting professional who is comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-entity environment and who can both build accounting infrastructure and manage the full scope of financial operations. The Financial Controller will be responsible for establishing and implementing accounting systems, processes, controls, reporting structures, and financial procedures while ensuring accurate and timely financial information across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong technical accountant and financial leader who is equally comfortable developing systems from the ground up, managing existing accounting functions, working with operations, and providing management with meaningful financial insight to support business decisions. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Oversee all accounting functions for multiple entities, including hotels, restaurants, entertainment operations, and newly acquired businesses.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain accounting systems, processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Develop standardized accounting procedures across the organization while allowing for the unique requirements of individual properties and operations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash management, payroll accounting, fixed assets, inventory, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
  • Establish and manage appropriate accounting calendars, close schedules, and reporting deadlines.
  • Review financial transactions and account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, automation, efficiency, and financial controls. Acquisitions & New Property Integration
  • Lead the accounting and financial integration of newly acquired hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, and Hard Rock operations.
  • Establish accounting structures and systems for new acquisitions and transition businesses into the company's financial reporting environment.
  • Develop opening balances, account structures, reporting procedures, and financial controls for acquired entities.
  • Coordinate with ownership, management, operations, outside accountants, attorneys, financial institutions, and other advisors throughout the acquisition and transition process.
  • Assist with due diligence, financial analysis, accounting transition, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Identify financial and operational risks during acquisitions and recommend appropriate controls and procedures. Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop meaningful financial reporting packages for ownership and executive leadership.
  • Analyze financial results, budgets, forecasts, variances, and key performance indicators.
  • Provide management with actionable financial insight and recommendations.
  • Establish property-level and consolidated reporting standards.
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, labor, cost of goods sold, operating margins, cash flow, and other key financial metrics.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts in coordination with operational leadership.
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis to support business decisions, acquisitions, capital expenditures, and strategic initiatives. Cash Management & Controls
  • Oversee company and property-level cash management.
  • Monitor cash flow, banking activity, deposits, disbursements, and working capital.
  • Establish appropriate cash-handling and reconciliation procedures for restaurants, hotels, and entertainment operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify potential financial risks, discrepancies, and control weaknesses and implement corrective measures. Tax, Audit & Compliance
  • Coordinate with external CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, and other financial professionals.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of financial information required for tax filings, audits, lender reporting, insurance requirements, and other compliance matters.
  • Serve as the primary internal financial contact for outside accounting and financial professionals.
  • Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting comply with applicable accounting standards and company policies. Leadership & Collaboration
  • Work closely with executive leadership, property general managers, hotel and restaurant operations, and other department leaders.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to operational teams.
  • Develop and establish accounting team structures, responsibilities, and performance expectations as appropriate.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and manage accounting personnel as appropriate.
  • Establish clear financial accountability throughout the organization.
  • Partner with operations to identify opportunities to improve profitability, control costs, and increase operational efficiency. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, with Controller-level experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing accounting functions across multiple entities or locations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
  • Experience with hospitality, hotels, restaurants, entertainment, or other multi-unit operating businesses strongly preferred.
  • Experience integrating newly acquired businesses or implementing new accounting systems strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of revenue, labor, inventory, cost of goods sold, and other financial considerations within hospitality and restaurant operations.
  • Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Experience implementing or transitioning accounting software and financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with executive and operational leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing organization.
