We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a contract position. This role is responsible for delivering accurate monthly financial reporting, overseeing day-to-day financial controls, and supporting the organization with sound accounting guidance. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, hands-on technical accounting expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Direct the daily activities of the accounting function, ensuring financial records are accurate, current, and aligned with internal standards.
Review general ledger activity, reconcile accounts, and oversee journal entries to maintain the integrity of financial data.
Manage company cash flow and coordinate banking matters, including credit facilities, letters of credit, and related financial obligations.
Lead the month-end close process and prepare timely financial statements for ownership and leadership review.
Support accounting team members with transaction processing questions, issue resolution, and ongoing operational guidance.
Partner with external auditors and provide required documentation and analysis during year-end audit activities.
Coordinate financing efforts for equipment purchases and acquisitions, including evaluating capitalization treatment where appropriate.
Prepare regulatory, government, and industry-related financial reports, including prequalification documentation and survey submissions.
Oversee job cost reporting and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure project-related financial information is complete and reliable.
Contribute to staff management through evaluations, work allocation, and participation in hiring or assignment decisions as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller role.
Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred.
Strong knowledge of month-end close, general ledger management, audit support, and core controllership practices.
Experience working with financing arrangements such as debt, equipment financing, or related credit structures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting systems, including Viewpoint Vista.
Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, external partners, and auditors in both written and verbal formats.
Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
