Athletic Trainer (Full-Time or Part Time) Bristol Area High Schools | Sports Medicine & Performance Training Join a progressive sports medicine team that goes beyond traditional athletic training. Advanced Physical Therapy is seeking a full-time Athletic Trainer (ATC) to provide athletic training services for one or more local high schools in the Bristol area. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within an integrated sports medicine model that combines athletic training, physical therapy, orthopedic care, rehabilitation, and sports performance training. Our athletic trainers work alongside an experienced team of physical therapists, orthopedic physicians, and sports performance professionals to provide comprehensive care for student-athletes from injury prevention through return-to-play and performance enhancement. Position Overview The Athletic Trainer serves as the primary healthcare professional for student-athletes at assigned high school(s), providing injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and return-to-play management.
This position is designed as a full-time athletic training role based primarily within the school setting. Unlike many traditional athletic training positions, you'll have access to an entire sports medicine network, including physical therapists, orthopedic specialists, rehabilitation facilities, and sports performance resources.

Essential Responsibilities Athletic Healthcare Services Provide on-site athletic training coverage for assigned high school athletic programs Evaluate athletic injuries and illnesses Develop and implement injury management plans Provide emergency care and first aid when necessary Coordinate return-to-play progression and clearance Document injuries, treatments, and athlete communications Communication & Relationship Building Maintain strong communication with athletes, parents, coaches, and athletic directors Coordinate care with physicians and physical therapists Serve as a trusted healthcare resource within the school community Promote athlete wellness and injury prevention strategies Professionalism & Customer Experience Demonstrate professionalism consistent with Advanced Physical Therapy standards Deliver exceptional service to athletes, families, coaches, and school administrators Represent the organization positively within the community Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence•Schedule Full-time position Approximately 40 hours per week Schedule follows athletic seasons and school event schedules Some weeks may be below 40 hours depending on seasonal demands Evening and occasional weekend coverage required during athletic seasons We understand the demands of athletic training and are committed to supporting work-life balance.
Additional athletic training coverage is available within our program to help provide flexibility and allow athletic trainers time off when needed, even during busy seasons.

Qualifications Required Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training BOC Certified Athletic Trainer Connecticut Athletic Trainer Licensure (or eligible) Current CPR/AED Certification Strong communication and interpersonal skills Passion for working with student-athletes Preferred Experience in secondary school athletic training Experience with return-to-play testing and sports performance concepts Interest in collaborating within an integrated sports medicine team•Why Join Advanced Physical Therapy?
