Head Athletic Trainer Full-Time, 12-Month Position Maclay School seeks an experienced, consistent, and highly relational Head Athletic Trainer to oversee the health and safety of student-athletes across our athletics program. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role is central to ensuring that every practice, game, and competition takes place with the highest standard of care, from injury prevention through rehabilitation and return to play. The Head Athletic Trainer is expected to be a constant, trusted presence across the athletics calendar, including practices, home and select away competitions, off-season training, and summer workouts. This role requires close partnership with coaches, the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, school health personnel, and the Athletic Director to build the systems, protocols, and relationships that keep student-athletes safe and supported. Responsibilities Athletic Training and Student-Athlete Care
  • Provide athletic training services at all practices and home competitions, including off-season training and summer workouts, with travel to select away events as determined by the Athletic Director.
  • Oversee the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries, maintaining accurate and current records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Partner with the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator on rehabilitation protocols and return-to-play decisions.
  • Communicate regularly with coaches and parents regarding athletes under care and those medically cleared to compete. Health Records and Compliance
  • Verify, review, and organize student physicals, FHSAA athletic clearance profiles, health records, and release forms in coordination with school health personnel.
  • Maintain an effective, efficient, and well-organized athletic training room. Safety Protocols and Department Partnership
  • Partner with the Athletic Department in developing on-field safety protocols, including emergency action plans, severe weather plans, and concussion protocols, supporting the Director of Athletics in making final determinations on event safety and adjustments or cancellations.
  • Examine existing processes, policies, and recurring problems, offering solutions that strengthen the department's safety and care systems.
