Athletic Trainer (Part Time)
Saint John's is a private college-preparatory school for boys founded in 1898 in Worcester, MA, and moved to its present location in Shrewsbury, MA, in 1961. The school, sponsored by the congregation of Saint Francis Xavier (Xaverian Brothers), enrolls approximately 950 day students in grades seven through twelve from nearly 70 communities in Massachusetts.
Position Description:
Saint John's High School is seeking a qualified Athletic Trainer. This is a part-time, non-benefited position consisting of 20-25 hours per week, including Saturdays and holidays, not to exceed 30 hours. The part-time athletic trainer will primarily be responsible for covering after-school athletic practices and home athletic events, in conjunction with another athletic trainer.
Responsibilities:
Prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries
Produce detailed and accurate written and electronic documentation of varsity athletic injuries/conditions, treatment, rehabilitation, and progress notes with coaching and physician referrals
Provide coverage for varsity and subvarsity team practices and athletic competitions as assigned
Provide athletic injury education and counseling to student athletes
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in administrative duties
Assist and advise the coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs, and the selection, care, and fitting of protective equipment
Assist in monitoring environmental hazards (i.e., lightning, humidity levels, etc.)
Assist in the care and cleanliness of the athletic training room
Responsible for giving basic instruction to athletic department staff members in the prevention and care of athletic injuries
Responsible for referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment when appropriate.
Carry out appropriate instructions and treatment as directed by the team physician and/or the student-athlete's physician
Qualifications:
Must have or be willing to get:
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Master's Preferred
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
Massachusetts Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), or eligible for licensure
AED/First Aid and CPR certified
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
