Join Our Team Optimal Rehabilitation & Wellness is seeking a passionate, energetic, and patient-centered Athletic Trainer to join our growing team in a unique hybrid role serving our Frankenmuth outpatient clinic and local school athletic programs. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive sports medicine services both on the sidelines and in the clinic while working alongside experienced physical therapists, physicians, coaches, athletic directors, and families. Position Summary The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries while providing exceptional patient care in both the outpatient clinic and school settings. This position promotes safe participation in sports through injury prevention, education, emergency care, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decision-making. Essential Responsibilities Outpatient Clinic Evaluate patients and assist in developing individualized rehabilitation programs. Work closely with physical therapists to provide high-quality orthopedic and sports medicine care. Supervise therapeutic exercises and functional rehabilitation activities. Perform return-to-sport testing and movement assessments. Educate patients on injury prevention, recovery, and wellness strategies. Document patient care accurately and efficiently using the electronic medical record. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment. School & Athletic Coverage Provide athletic training services for assigned high school practices and athletic events. Evaluate and manage acute injuries and medical emergencies. Apply taping, bracing, wound care, and other athletic training techniques. Develop and oversee rehabilitation plans for injured athletes. Coordinate communication with physicians, physical therapists, coaches, athletic directors, school personnel, athletes, and parents. Make return-to-play recommendations following evidence-based guidelines. Maintain injury documentation and reports. Promote injury prevention through education, conditioning, and wellness initiatives. Qualifications Required Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program. Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. Current CPR/AED certification. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Experience in outpatient orthopedics or sports medicine. Experience providing athletic coverage for high school or collegiate athletics. Knowledge of rehabilitation exercises and therapeutic interventions. Experience with electronic medical records.
