Position Summary Under the direction of an orthopedic physician, the Office Based Athletic Trainer provides clinical support within the practice. This role prepares patients for examination, assists with procedures, delivers patient education, and ensures accurate documentation to support high-quality care and positive surgical outcomes. Key Responsibilities Clinical Support Complete initial patient assessments, histories, vital signs, and medication reconciliation. Assist with joint injections, aspirations, cast removal/application, suture and staple removal. Apply durable medical equipment and support providers during clinical procedures. Provide patient education on home exercise programs, medication management, referrals, and pre-/post-operative care. Support patient triage coverage for the Sports Medicine Same Day Clinic as needed. Education & Collaboration Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions and clinics. Serve as a resource in areas of expertise and provide in-services for the practice. Contribute to program development and community/family education. Administrative Duties Document in the electronic health record according to compliance guidelines. Communicate any limitations affecting timely documentation. Maintain accurate, legible, and complete medical records. Participate in process improvement and demonstrate effective time management. Professional Expectations Maintain and update competencies based on population needs, care type, and advancements in healthcare and technology. Demonstrate safe patient handling, including lifting up to 20 lbs and assisting with heavier tasks. Qualifications Graduate of a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training preferred; minimum 3-5 years of athletic training experience required. Current Licensed Athletic Trainer (AT) in Michigan or eligible within 90 days of hire. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire. Epic experience preferred. Keyboarding skills sufficient to operate a PC/mobile device. Three or more years of experience as a certified athletic trainer preferred.
