_PARAGRAPH JOB_DESCRIPTION.SHARE.HTML Midland, Michigan Athletic Training TBD Regular Full-Time Day Shift Corporate Clinical Services 48345 Job Description Summary The collegiate athletic trainer provides treatment, first aid and sports medicine coverage for athletic events according to contract with designated college or university. Activities of this position are patient focused in accordance with athletic training standards, physician orders, and affiliate policies and procedures. Responsibilities (50%)
  • Responsible for the assessing, treating, preventing, and rehabilitating athletic injuries for the designated school, including practice and game coverage per contract. (30%)
  • Provides treatment techniques to facilitate and restore optimal functioning performance specific to certified athletic trainer's patient care area. (10%)
  • Provides adequate feedback to the Team Physician regarding patient's progress and reports any unusual reaction or response to therapeutic program. (10%)
  • Completes daily documentation necessary per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies.
Records and tracks daily activities at designated school.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Documents the patient/family/caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per affiliate documentation policies and/or standards and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Educates patient/family/caregiver in home education program using relevant and effective teaching methods. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care including coordination with interdisciplinary team members Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Promotes process improvement. Assists with program development. Provides feedback in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Demonstrates commitment to MyMichigan Health and specific affiliate mission as evidenced by customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Under guidance of team physician, certified athletic trainer will facilitate communication between patient, coaching staff and physician regarding changes in treatment regime. Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with MyMichigan Health and affiliate policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Successful completion of MyMichigan Health and affiliate specific orientation. Successful completion of new hire competency. Interpersonal skills needed for effective verbal and written communication in the English language to interact with people individually and in a group at all levels and to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem solving and organizational skills, time management skills and initiative. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing is required and must be done annually. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is required and must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. Ability to work where employee may be exposed to communicable diseases. Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation. Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to appropriate professional and non?professional individuals. Prefer one to three years of experience working in a sports medicine clinic or university setting.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
