The American Institute of Balance providers & Dr. Gans have had 55+ audiology externs to date. Our highly specialized practice focuses on vestibular and balance disorders with a strong medical referral base and interdisciplinary approach. AIB provides a full range of diagnostic vestibular assessments, including but not limited to: Posturography, Rotary Chair, Active Head Rotation, VNG, VEMP, vHIT, Dynamic Visual Acuity, etc. Traditional diagnostic audiology, including hearing assessments and hearing aid dispensing is also provided. Mission:
"To elevate vestibular and hearing services through the practice, study, and continuous advancement of our evidence-based diagnostic protocols, cross-functional collaboration, and the development of future clinical leaders committed to exceptional patient care." The ideal AIB extern would embody a holistic healthcare approach and mentality to patient care, leadership skills, academic aspirations, interest in business development, public speaking engagements (10-100 people), and have a goal to produce a positive and lasting impact on the field of audiology as a medical-modeled allied-healthcare profession. Our private practice allows students to also gain valuable insight and experience in practice management, business development, and education. AIB providers are AAA members, hold ASHA CCCs, and work with the externs to provide professional and practice mentorship. Post-extern year career opportunities may also be available. Yes Continuing education workshops in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Vestibular Assessment and Management, Concussion, and multiple other workshops are onsite at the main Largo AIB location. Residents interact and assist with these workshops with multiple interdisciplinaries (PT, OT, ENT, Neurologists, etc.)
