The Audiology Externship Program at Iowa Ear Center is designed to provide students with extensive hands-on experience in the field of audiology. This curriculum is aimed at providing students an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills with a focus on ENT/vestibular evaluation, as well as the principles and practice of otology. The program will expose students to various facets of private practice settings including hearing aid fittings for pediatric and adult populations, cochlear implants and Osia & Baha devices, as well as in-depth experience in diagnostic audiology for all ages, evoked potentials, and vestibular evaluation. Student will be expected to have health and liability insurance through their university and will receive no medical, dental or liability benefits from Iowa Ear Center. Student must purchase a professional liability insurance policy to cover their activities in connection to the externship in the minimum amount of $1,000,000 per occurrence with an annual aggregate of $3,000,000. Student will work an equivalent of a full-time work week for the facility or PTO must be claimed. Student will receive 15 days of PTO in addition to 6 holiday PTO days. • Student will perform audiograms, VNG, ABR, and evaluations, fittings and programming for hearing aids, bahas, osia, and cochlear implants.
• Students will treat both adult and pediatric patients.
