Job Description
SEEM Collaborative is seeking a fee-for-service Educational Audiologist for our itinerant services department. The educational audiologist will provide services to students in both our member districts and our SEEM schools as needed and requested. This position requires working in multiple buildings/schools/districts with students with varying needs.
Qualifications:
Masters in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology required
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Conduct evaluations/assessments (acoustical evaluations, functional listening evaluations)
Review available medical/audiological information pertinent to the deaf or hard of hearing student's profile in consideration of the needs of the student for selection of hearing assistive technology, classroom acoustics, or other acoustical modifications needed. Select, fit, and monitor the use of school purchased hearing assistive technology, and student's personal devices equipment.
Provide training to deaf or hard of hearing students, teachers, school staff, or other stakeholders on individual and classroom hearing assistive technology systems used by the deaf or hard of hearing students.
Provide consultation with the Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing assigned to each deaf or hard of hearing students as appropriate
Participation in 504/IEP meetings
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to implement the following specialized areas:
Pediatric audiological disorders of hearing loss.
Impact of hearing losses on children's access to communication.
Recent technology for hearing aids, bone anchored hearing systems, cochlear implants, (bi)CROS systems, and hearing assistive technology.
School based services scope of practice.
Concurrent disabilities to hearing loss and their impact on decision making for the classroom and devices. Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
