The VA Southern Nevada Health System in Las Vegas, NV currently has one fourth year AuD stipend position beginning May-July 2027. VASNHCS is a leader in the provision of audiological, implant, and balance services to our nations' veterans. The Audiology team provides a full range of services including diagnostic services utilizing six sound booths, ten fully equipped hearing aid treatment rooms, a robust vestibular program (rotary chair, VNG, CPD, etc.), auditory evoked potentials, tinnitus retraining management program, in conjunction with facility mental health services, and currently working to expand our cochlear implant program. No Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Basic audiometric skills, including: immittance measures, pure tone threshold testing, and speech testing. Basic vestibular, cochlear implant/bone anchored devices, and electrophysiologic knowledge. Basic hearing aid knowledge. Skills necessary to work in a fast paced environment with a variety of veterans. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: Deeper knowledge of audiometrics, and audiological procedures. In depth knowledge of vestibular evaluations, tinnitus, electrophysiology, and cochlear implantations. Skills necessary to work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced VA hospital setting. Practical skills for hearing aid troubleshooting will be expanded.
