About Roots Therapy Co. Roots Therapy Co. is a neurodivergent-owned and operated therapy practice providing individualized, assent-based services throughout the Quad Cities. Through our Rooted Learning branch, we provide ABA therapy where life actually happens—in clients' homes and communities. We believe meaningful skills should improve a person's everyday life, not simply their performance during a therapy session. Our approach prioritizes functional communication, autonomy, emotional safety, independence, natural-environment teaching, caregiver collaboration, and genuine connection. We are currently looking for three compassionate and dependable Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to help us grow our in-home and community-based ABA program. Position Summary As an RBT with Rooted Learning, you will provide individualized one-to-one ABA services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Rather than working in a traditional clinic with back-to-back clients, RBTs work directly with clients within their homes and, when clinically appropriate, community environments. Sessions are designed around individualized treatment goals and meaningful everyday routines. Depending on the client, you may work on communication while preparing a snack, practice emotional regulation during a board game, teach independence through a morning routine, work on safety during a neighborhood walk, or help a client successfully participate in a community activity. We want our RBTs to understand not only what they are teaching, but why it matters to the person they are supporting. Responsibilities Provide individualized one-to-one ABA therapy in client homes and community settings. Implement treatment protocols developed by the supervising BCBA. Use natural-environment teaching, reinforcement, prompting, shaping, functional communication training, task analysis, and other evidence-based behavioral strategies as clinically indicated. Teach functional skills including communication, self-advocacy, emotional regulation, social participation, safety, daily living skills, executive functioning, and independence. Implement behavior support plans for behaviors that meaningfully interfere with safety, health, independence, or quality of life. Collect accurate behavioral and skill-acquisition data throughout sessions. Complete clear, objective, and timely clinical documentation. Recognize and respond appropriately to client assent, withdrawal of assent, communication, sensory needs, and signs of distress. Encourage independence and systematically fade unnecessary prompts and adult support. Collaborate closely with the supervising BCBA and communicate relevant clinical observations. Support generalization of skills across people, activities, and environments. Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance at all times. Follow BACB ethical requirements, organizational policies, safety procedures, and mandated reporting requirements. Participate in ongoing training, competency development, and BCBA supervision. Strong candidates will:

Hold an active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential or be willing and eligible to obtain one. Have experience supporting autistic or otherwise neurodivergent children, adolescents, or adults. Be comfortable providing services independently within family homes while maintaining frequent communication with the supervising BCBA. Understand that behavior is communication and approach challenging situations with curiosity rather than judgment. Be willing to follow individualized treatment protocols rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Be comfortable getting on the floor, playing, moving, going outdoors, and incorporating client interests into sessions. Be reliable and understand how important consistency is for clients and families. Accept feedback and enjoy learning. Communicate professionally and compassionately with families. Accurately collect data and complete clinical documentation. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries in home and community environments. Have reliable transportation and be willing to travel locally between clients. Experience in ABA, special education, developmental disabilities, childcare, mental health, direct support, or other human services is preferred but not the only thing we consider. We prioritize goals that meaningfully improve quality of life, including communication, self-advocacy, safety, emotional regulation, independence, relationships, and participation in everyday activities. We do not believe harmless differences need to be eliminated simply because they look different. We believe clients should have meaningful choices, functional ways to say "no," opportunities to request breaks and modifications, and therapists who pay attention when their behavior communicates discomfort. Afternoon and early evening availability is particularly valuable because many clients receive services after school.

Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
