Category Schools - BCBA Job Type Contract ExcelPrep Schools seeks a dedicated Behavior Specialist to partner with a vibrant, mission-driven team focused on transforming outcomes for neurodiverse students. This full-time, on-site position in Champaign, IL centers around designing, implementing, and refining research-based behavioral interventions that support students' academic and social-emotional growth. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families, you will be integral to a nurturing environment where specialized instruction, precise teaching, and meaningful data drive measurable successes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). Implement and adjust ABA-based interventions targeting language, reasoning, executive functioning, social skills, and independence. Lead data collection and data-based decision making using Precision Teaching, probe data, mastery criteria, and trend analysis. Collaborate closely with Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and teaching staff to integrate sensory-motor supports and cognitive-linguistic strategies. Model and coach colleagues in direct instruction and precision teaching methods. Provide direct on-site therapy, supervise RBTs or BCaBAs, and facilitate parent/team meetings. Ensure adherence to program integrity, privacy, and all relevant ethical standards. Commit to continuous professional growth and contribute to program development with evidence-based practices.
Qualifications:
BCBA or BCaBA certification (or eligibility with an intent to pursue); comparable ABA expertise will be considered. 2-3 years of clinical experience supporting neurodiverse children (ages 3-13). Deep knowledge of ABA, data analysis, and behavior intervention design. Experience with Direct Instruction and Precision Teaching preferred. Excellent collaborative, communication, and coaching abilities. Understanding of sensory processing and occupational therapy applications. Bilingual skills are a plus.
