Our team is made up of physicians, nurses, and pediatric care leaders. Many still see patients, teach residents, contribute to research, or hold leadership roles at children's hospitals. The Role We're hiring a Pediatric CDI Specialist to review pediatric medical records for documentation gaps related to acuity, illness severity, mortality risk, and overall complexity of care. You'll work concurrently and retrospectively, partnering with physicians, APPs, coders, and hospital leadership to improve documentation quality — and act as an educator, helping clinical teams understand why accurate documentation matters for patient care and compliant reimbursement. What You'll Do Review pediatric charts for completeness, specificity, and clinical accuracy Identify gaps related to diagnoses, procedures, comorbidities, severity of illness, mortality risk, and quality measures Apply clinical indicators alongside

ICD-10-CM/PCS

guidance to evaluate documentation Confirm documentation supports appropriate code and DRG assignment Draft clear, compliant provider queries when documentation is unclear or incomplete Track and follow up on open queries Provide education to pediatric physicians, APPs, and care teams on documentation practices Build lasting working relationships with providers Participate in case reviews, audits, DRG reconciliation, and CDI improvement projects Coordinate with coding, quality, compliance, and revenue cycle teams Maintain accurate records of reviews, queries, and outcomes Meet productivity, accuracy, and turnaround targets Stay current on pediatric coding, reimbursement, and regulatory changes

What You Bring Required:

3+ years of CDI experience, with at least 1 year in pediatric populations Strong understanding of pediatric physiology, disease progression, and clinical documentation indicators Experience identifying documentation and query opportunities in pediatric charts Familiarity with

ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG/APR-DRG

methodology, severity/mortality risk scoring, and quality reporting Ability to construct compliant queries per

AHIMA/ACDIS

standards Strong clinical judgment on complex pediatric cases Proven collaboration across physicians, APPs, coders, and multidisciplinary teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfort with EHR and CDI software Ability to self-manage productively in a remote environment Nice to
