Job Description
Piedmont Healthcare seeks a detail-oriented Department Assistant (PRN) to support daily operations in a fast-paced healthcare setting. In this as-needed role, you will provide clerical and administrative support, manage scheduling, maintain records, and assist with patient-facing tasks. You will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely communication, accurate documentation, and excellent patient service. Responsibilities Provide administrative and clerical support to assigned department, including scheduling, filing, and data entry Assist clinical and non-clinical staff with documentation, forms, and record maintenance in accordance with hospital policies Greet and direct patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a professional and compassionate experience Coordinate phone calls, messages, and correspondence, routing information to appropriate team members Support department operations by maintaining supplies, organizing work areas, and preparing basic reports Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of patient and departmental information in all interactions Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support efficient workflow and patient-centered care Assist with tracking appointments, test results, and follow-up tasks as directed by department leadership Use hospital information systems and basic office software to manage records and communications Adhere to all safety, regulatory, and compliance standards established by Piedmont Healthcare Required Skills Medical office administration Healthcare terminology familiarity Electronic Health Record (EHR) navigation Patient registration and check-in Scheduling and calendar management Data entry and database management Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools Phone and call management systems Document scanning and records management HIPAA and confidentiality procedures
