In this vital role, you will manage insurance prior authorization processes, ensuring timely approval for patient treatments and procedures. Your expertise in medical coding, health insurance policies, and electronic health records (EHR) management will help streamline operations and enhance patient care. Duties Review and verify insurance information to facilitate accurate prior authorization requests for medical services and procedures Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary documentation and clarify authorization requirements Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to accurately document diagnoses and procedures in medical records Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently to track authorization statuses and update medical records accordingly Communicate effectively with managed care organizations and insurance carriers to expedite approval processes Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to insurance coverage and authorization status Qualifications Proven experience in medical office administration, health insurance verification, or related roles within a healthcare setting Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and health insurance policies Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, medical terminology, and medical billing processes Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and EHR/EHR management systems Understanding of managed care operations and insurance prior authorization procedures Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with providers, insurers, patients, and team members Join our team as an Authorization Coordinator and be at the forefront of ensuring seamless healthcare delivery through precise authorization management.
