Referral Coordinator Duties:

• Coordinate and process referrals for patients to specialist providers
• Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure timely and accurate referral processing
• Obtain necessary medical records and documentation for referral authorization
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for referred services
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in electronic medical record system
• Collaborate with medical office staff to schedule appointments and follow-up visits
• Assist in coding and billing processes related to referrals
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality

Skills:

• Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting
• Knowledge of managed care systems and insurance verification processes
• Familiarity with medical coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9
• Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
