Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Unit Clerk, where you will be the vital link ensuring smooth operations within our medical units. Duties Serve as the front desk receptionist, greeting patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth while managing phone communication with clarity and courtesy. Assist with medical scheduling, appointment confirmations, and coordinating care plans to optimize clinic operations. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or other EMR platforms. Review and verify medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, including patient histories, insurance information, and clinical notes. Support medical billing processes by collecting payments, processing insurance claims, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage filing of medical records, test results, and other sensitive documents while ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality policies. Perform basic medical coding tasks utilizing CPT codes, ICD-9/10 coding systems for documentation review and billing purposes. Coordinate communication between healthcare providers, patients, insurance companies, and external agencies to facilitate seamless care delivery. Handle administrative tasks such as data entry using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel), typing reports with precision (including 10-key typing), and maintaining office supplies. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills. Experience with electronic health records management is required. Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare billing procedures and health information management standards. Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette and professional communication abilities. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; typing accuracy (including 10-key) is essential. Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Experience working in clinics or hospitals providing medical administrative support is highly valued. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
