Job Description
Position Summary The Certified Epic Radiant Consultant is responsible for leading the implementation, optimization, integration, and support of the Epic Radiant application while working closely with the organization's Change Healthcare PACS environment. This role serves as the subject matter expert for Radiology Information System (RIS) workflows, imaging operations, PACS integration, and interoperability between Epic Radiant, Change Healthcare PACS, and ancillary imaging systems. The consultant partners with radiologists, technologists, imaging leadership, IT teams, and third-party vendors to ensure efficient imaging workflows, seamless image availability, and high-quality patient care throughout implementation, go-live, and post-production support. Primary Responsibilities Epic Radiant Implementation Lead the design, configuration, build, testing, and deployment of Epic Radiant. Analyze current-state radiology workflows and recommend future-state best practices. Configure Epic Radiant to support diagnostic imaging operations. Develop and maintain application documentation, build specifications, and workflow diagrams. Participate in integrated testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and dress rehearsals. Support command center activities during Epic go-live. Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolutions with Epic and internal IT teams. Participate in optimization initiatives following implementation. Change Healthcare PACS Responsibilities Support the integration and ongoing functionality of Change Healthcare PACS with Epic Radiant. Configure and validate interfaces between Epic Radiant and Change Healthcare PACS. Ensure accurate transmission of patient demographics, orders, results, and imaging studies. Troubleshoot image routing, study reconciliation, and workflow issues. Coordinate image migration and historical image access when required. Collaborate with PACS administrators to maintain optimal system performance. Validate DICOM communication between imaging modalities and PACS. Assist with downtime planning and disaster recovery procedures. Workflow & Clinical Support Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, schedulers, and imaging leadership to optimize workflows. Analyze radiology scheduling, order management, protocoling, image acquisition, interpretation, and result reporting processes. Recommend workflow improvements that enhance patient throughput and provider efficiency. Provide end-user education and support during implementation and optimization activities. Assist with developing operational procedures and workflow documentation. Required Qualifications Current Epic Radiant Certification (required). Minimum of 5 years of Epic Radiant implementation and support experience. Minimum of 3 years supporting Change Healthcare PACS in a healthcare environment. Multiple Epic implementation or optimization projects preferred. Strong understanding of radiology department operations and imaging workflows. Experience with hospital and outpatient imaging environments. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with:
McKesson PACS (legacy environments) Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA) PowerScribe or other voice recognition platforms DICOM networking HL7 messaging FHIR integrations Imaging interoperability Knowledge of radiology regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission and ACR standards. Clinical imaging background (Radiologic Technologist or Imaging Informatics) preferred. Epic Cupid or other Epic imaging application certifications are a plus.
