Job Description

The Polysomnographic Technologist Supervisor, under the direction of the Program Manager and attending Pulmonologist, organizes, administers, and supervises the efficient functioning of the Sleep Lab. As the technical expert for the Sleep Lab, this full time position requires qualified candidates possess at least an Associate's Degree (Bachelors Preferred) in a health care related field. Also a requirement is excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must have documented progressive leadership experience (such as providing and evaluating clinical training programs, scoring and reporting, collaboration with physicians, etc). This supervisor must also be flexible and adaptable to changing needs and be able to make discriminating observations. Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of

Specific Responsibilities in this role would include (but are not limited to): 1.1 Patient Care 2. Directly supervises the work activities of the Polysomnographic Technologists. 2.1 Also supervises the work of the Sleep Center's Business Associate. 3. Participates in the selection and training of employees; makes effective recommendations regarding hiring, terminations, discipline and changes in employment status. 4. Ensures that desired patient care outcomes are achieved through safe and efficient utilization of resources 5. Understands and assists in the development of a unit budget to ensure the delivery of cost effective, quality care; Participates in financial forecasting and planning along with other members of the management team 5.1 Attends budget/financial meetings regarding the sleep center 6. Collaborates in implementing and evaluating clinical training and education programs focused on the care of infants, children and adolescents with altered sleep states, specifically giving instruction in the technical aspects of sleep disordered breathing, and respiratory care. 7. Ability to recognize trends that require treatment for polysomnograms, conduct multiple sleep latency tests, scoring, perform
CPAP/BIPAP/TRACH
polysomnograms and instruct others as to the proper procedure for doing so 8. Monitoring of staffing and scheduling of employees and patients to ensure lab is meeting predetermined metrics 9. In collaboration with Sleep Lab leadership, provides direction and leadership to staff in an environment that offers job satisfaction and recognition as well as stimulation of innovative thinking to accomplish goals and objectives 10. Serves as a liaison for patients, their families and YNHCH staff, ensuring the successful execution of customer service standards reflecting excellence consistent with hospital policy for internal/external customers 11. Collaborates with leadership to market sleep lab, promoting visibility of program throughout the organization, community and state 12. Collaborates with YNHH leadership and with Pediatric Pulmonary leadership in reviewing, revising, and implementing evidence-based practice standards/policies/protocols/guidelines, as well as patient/family and staff educational materials for the care of patients with altered sleep states. 13. Maintains appropriate CEUs and attends educational opportunities. 14. Assists and participates in special activities such as outreach programs, special projects and school based health porgrams. Associates Degree in Health Care related field (Bachelors Preferred)., Registered Polysomnographic Certification is required.
EXPERIENCE
At least Five (5) years clinical practice experience in pediatrics with demonstrated leadership experience required. Expectation of role is to be considered the technical expert of the Sleep Laboratory.
LICENSURE RPSGT SPECIAL SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated clinical expertise, critical thinking, and computer skills. Excellent prioritization and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to implement, support and effectively monitor change required. Must be able to recognize sleep pathology, and document accordingly.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Exposure to bio-hazardous blood and body fluids. Prolonged standing, walking and lifting required. Flexibility of hours. YNHHS Requisition
