Job Description

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to the following)
  • Perform laboratory tests accurately and in a timely fashion following established guidelines and physician orders. Report all tests in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures timely.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of department supply needs ensuring uninterrupted testing.
  • Perform, record and analyze QC data in order to make judgments concerning the results and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory agencies and organizational policies.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiates corrective action.
  • Maintain clinical competency and current professional knowledge by reading relevant journal articles and attending training sessions.
  • Evaluate new testing methodology and contributes to writing technical laboratory procedures.
  • Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test analyses and/or notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor or director when appropriate.
  • Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's acceptable guidelines.
  • Assist Laboratory Supervisor with yearly departmental inventory.
  • Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognizes deviation for expected results, analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles.
  • Operate instruments using established protocols and quality control checks: performs preventive and corrective maintenance on instruments.
  • Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies
