Available Help for . Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings has an opening for a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Houston, TX. Perform moderate and high complexity testing in some or all areas of the laboratory, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and blood banking. Medical Laboratory Technologists key responsibilities include proper patient and specimen identification, adherence to testing policies and procedures, instrument use and troubleshooting, and computer functions. The Medical Laboratory Technologist will work closely with phlebotomists, other medical technologists, nurses, and physicians to provide patient care. Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, or spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal or abnormal components: Obtain, cut, stain, and mount biological material on slides for microscopic study and diagnosis, following standard laboratory procedures; Conduct medical research under the direction of a microbiologist or biochemist; Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction. Develop, standardize, evaluate, or modify procedures, techniques, or tests used in the analysis of specimens or in medical laboratory experiments: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems; a. Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information; b. Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions; Supervise, train, or direct lab assistants, medical and clinical laboratory technicians or technologists, or other medical laboratory workers engaged in laboratory testing. Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, or computer-controlled analyzers: Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment; Operate laboratory equipment to analyze medical samples; Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. Up to 2 national trips per year. Must possess at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemical Science, Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or related field and at least 1 year of experience as a Technologist or related role in a clinical laboratory.

Must also possess the following:

at least 1 year of experience troubleshooting instrumentation; at least 1 year of experience in LIS system processes; and at least 1 year of demonstrable knowledge of regulatory standards (CAP/CLIA).
