Candidates must be locally based or willing to relocate within reasonable commute independently. Position Summary Laredo Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team on the Night Shift. In this role, you will perform routine and specialized moderate
•to high-complexity laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens with minimal supervision. You will play a vital role in patient care by delivering fast, reliable testing results, maintaining quality control, troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, and upholding strict compliance standards.

Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Essential Functions Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely result reporting and precise documentation. Maintain quality control (QC) standards by monitoring data, identifying out-of-range results, and initiating corrective actions. Conduct routine daily, weekly, and monthly instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per laboratory guidelines. Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, executing corrective actions or escalating to technical support/manufacturers when necessary. Comply fully with laboratory safety procedures, standard precautions, PPE requirements, and the Laboratory Safety Plan. Communicate effectively with laboratory leadership, physicians, and clinical care teams regarding critical or unusual patient results, equipment issues, and QC status. Participate in proficiency testing and regulatory data collection for laboratory accreditation and compliance. Perform phlebotomy procedures and collect chain-of-custody urine drug screens as required to support patient care needs. Train and onboard new employees and students as assigned. Collaborate with night-shift team members to ensure all department responsibilities and daily tasks are completed seamlessly. Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and comply with all healthcare facility policies and standards. Qualifications & Requirements Education (At least ONE of the following is required): Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science OR Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency Examination approved by HHS (HEW). Licenses & Certifications (At least ONE of the following is required): ASCP
•Medical Technologist (MT / MLS) OR AMT
•Medical Laboratory Technologist OR AAB
•
Medical Laboratory Technologist Work Experience & Requirements:
0-2 years of acute care laboratory experience.
Work Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough understanding of clinical laboratory testing procedures, quality control protocols, and safety compliance. Proficient in operating and troubleshooting complex laboratory instruments and laboratory information systems (LIS). Strong time-management and multi-tasking abilities to meet fast-paced clinical testing deadlines. Clear communication skills for working alongside physicians, nurses, and clinical staff. Competency in population-specific requirements across diverse patient demographics.
