The Experiential Learning Specialist is responsible for developing and managing innovative clinical, laboratory, and simulation-based learning experiences that support student success across multiple clinical sites (called spokes). This role coordinates and streamlines virtual and in-person simulation activities, coordinates clinical placements and partnerships, manages affiliation agreements, and ensures consistent, high-quality experiential learning opportunities. The specialist collaborates with academic leadership, faculty, and healthcare partners to integrate experiential learning into the curriculum, expand clinical site availability, and support student readiness for professional practice. This position requires expertise in simulation-based education, clinical coordination, and relationship management, along with strong organizational, communication, and project management skills. Prior experience in pre-licensure clinical coordination, either in academics or clinical education, is preferred.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
(Essential Functions) Lab & Simulation Design and implement virtual lab and simulation environments, utilizing digital platforms to provide equitable learning across all regions. Develop standardized remote-learning protocols for students participating in skills-building activities from off-site or clinical locations. Design and coordinate on-site skills and simulation intensives, including logistics for students and faculty. Collaborate with curriculum coordinator, dean, and/or program director for seamless integration of lab and simulation activities within LMS. Clinical Coordination & Business Development Act as the primary liaison between the institution and multi-region healthcare systems to secure high-volume, long-term affiliation agreements. Manage all clinical contracts to ensure currency and alignment with institutional policies and student requirements. Lead the strategic identification and attainment of new clinical sites in targeted expansion regions to support growing student enrollment. Recruit clinical instructors for existing and new clinical sites, contributing to onboarding, training, and evaluation efforts. Standardize the student experience across multiple sites to ensure regional expansion does not compromise educational quality. Assist as needed with requesting clinical rotations at the various facilities and monitoring clinical readiness requirements. Other duties as may be assigned.
Education and Knowledge:
Minimum (Required) Qualifications Minimum of master's degree in nursing (MSN) Experience designing simulation-based education, clinical skills training, and laboratory instruction. Knowledge of simulation equipment, virtual/digital simulation resources, learning management systems, and clinical tracking tools. Experience managing clinical partnerships or affiliation agreements. Willingness to commute to satellite location and clinical facilities as needed. Preferred Qualifications Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) Familiarity with
NLN CNEA
accreditation standards. Familiarity with Elsevier 4 Years of experience in Nursing Education or related fields.
