This position provides quality management, regulatory compliance, patient safety, performance improvement, accreditation support, and grant administration services to hospitals managed by CPC. The Director serves as a strategic resource to hospital executive leadership, medical staff, and department managers, helping client hospitals improve quality outcomes, strengthen regulatory compliance, prepare for surveys, and implement evidence-based performance improvement initiatives. In addition to leading quality initiatives, this individual will oversee all aspects of healthcare grant development and administration, including identifying funding opportunities, writing successful grant applications, managing grant implementation, ensuring compliance, and reporting outcomes. This position is based in Edmond, Oklahoma, with regular travel to client hospitals. Current travel is primarily to Hamilton County Hospital, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in Syracuse, Kansas, with the expectation that responsibilities may expand as CPC grows. Essential Responsibilities Quality Management & Performance Improvement Provide leadership and oversight for hospital Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs. Develop, implement, and evaluate organization-wide quality improvement initiatives. Analyze quality metrics and operational data to identify opportunities for improved patient outcomes and operational excellence. Develop quality dashboards and present performance metrics to hospital leadership, medical staff, governing boards, and quality committees. Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA), and other performance improvement methodologies. Assist hospital leadership in developing corrective action plans and monitoring effectiveness. Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, Critical Access Hospital regulations, state licensing requirements, and other regulatory standards. Coordinate preparation for regulatory surveys, accreditation reviews, and payer audits. Assist hospitals in maintaining continuous survey readiness. Develop and update quality management policies, procedures, and compliance documentation. Monitor regulatory changes and advise hospital leadership regarding operational impacts. Patient Safety & Risk Management Investigate adverse events, patient safety concerns, near misses, and reportable incidents. Coordinate required reporting to regulatory agencies. Develop system-wide recommendations to reduce risk and improve patient safety. Collaborate with hospital leadership on corrective action planning. Grants Management Identify grant opportunities from federal, state, foundation, and private funding sources. Research funding priorities that align with client hospital strategic goals. Prepare competitive grant applications and supporting documentation. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams during grant development. Develop grant budgets in collaboration with finance and operational leaders. Manage grant implementation from award through project completion. Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, deadlines, reporting obligations, and audits. Measure grant outcomes and prepare required financial and program reports. Develop long-term grant strategies that support growth and sustainability for client hospitals. Education & Leadership Educate physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and hospital employees regarding quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based best practices. Facilitate Quality Committee meetings and participate in executive leadership meetings. Mentor hospital department leaders in quality improvement methodologies. Serve as a trusted advisor to hospital CEOs, administrators, and executive leadership teams. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Quality Management, or a related healthcare field. Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Must have the ability to obtain a Kansas license. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible healthcare quality management experience. Demonstrated experience writing, securing, implementing, and managing healthcare grants. Thorough knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, Critical Access Hospital regulations, quality reporting programs, and healthcare accreditation standards. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50%. Preferred Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field. Experience working with Critical Access Hospitals and rural healthcare organizations. Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement certification. Experience with HRSA, USDA, CMS, CDC, SAMHSA, FCC, or other federal rural healthcare grant programs. Experience supporting multiple healthcare facilities or consulting organizations. Travel schedules are generally planned in advance but may occasionally require flexibility to support regulatory surveys, project implementation, or operational needs.
