20-25/week Job Overview Seeking a dedicated and energetic ASL proficient Community Support / Direct Support Staff to assist an active and social client who is Deaf and has developmental differences. The staff will assist with community participation, skill building, and exercise and wellness goals within the community setting. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting an individual with disabilities in participating in their day, including routines, activities and appointments.
The ideal candidate will be:
passionate about supporting individuals with developmental disabilities; fluent or proficient in using American Sign Language (ASL); interested in exercise and fitness, and will support/participate with our client in our client's regular workout routine. The ideal candidate will have a respectful, supportive strengths-based approach focused on ability and independence, supporting our client's meaningful participation in the community. Responsibilities Communication in American Sign Language. Exercising and going to the gym (preference given to someone willing to be an exercise partner), Participating in outdoor activities, Supporting development/pursuit of hobbies and interests, Being active in the community, Supporting life enrichment, Supporting development of money management skills, Supporting personal growth and independent living skills, Supporting community participation and inclusion, Supporting and encouraging independence, Driving client to activities and appointments. Duties may also include support with: Home organization and routine tasks, Activities of daily living, Safety skills, Support with meal time needs.
Qualifications:
Valid NYS driver's license and reliable vehicle to transport client. High School Diploma or GED may be required. Smartphone and/or tablet for electronic record keeping. Ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgement, and complete necessary documentation. Prior experience in this role is not necessary. Potential candidates with the priority skills and with willingness to learn on the job are encouraged to apply.

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
