Job Description
Description Under direct supervision of EDI Coordinator, performs routine office functions within the EDI Center in Student Affairs. The main purpose of this position is to assist the coordinator of EDI, students, faculty, staff and community members who access the EDI center during Student Affairs hours. Examples of Duties A. Be knowledgeable about programs and resources offered or sponsored by the EDI Center. B. Ensures that EDI Center visitors sign in and monitor visitor traffic and capacity based on KCC designated social distancing guidelines. C. Maintains a file of campus and community resources, referrals, and outreach initiatives. D. Supports all EDI programs and organizations (i.e. Peer Mentoring program, Minority Male Initiative etc.). E. Assists in providing outreach to campus and community partners. F. Staffs the EDI Center and serve as the initial point of contact for those visiting the space. G. Answers phone directed towards the EDI Center in order to provide information to our diverse student population about EDI services, upcoming meetings, resources, and events. H. Provides a peer support network for fellow students. I. Maintains a clean, comfortable, and inviting atmosphere in the EDI Center adherent to standards set forth by KCC. J. Collaborates with marketing to keep EDI website updated. Minimum Qualifications A. High school diploma or equivalent, required. B. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. A student employee of Kankakee Community College, may sometime have access to confidential information. The student worker must treat all records, data, and work information with strict confidentiality. This includes but is not limited to, (employment issues, private medical issues, incident reports, student records and any other information to which rules and laws concerning privacy and restricted public access apply). This type of information shall not be discussed amongst staff or non-staff individuals, unless the student is clearly instructed to do so by the supervisor. C. Experience in filing, with accuracy, is preferred. D. Able to operate office equipment, e.g. copier, shredder, fax, computer, etc. preferred. E. Must be able to interact and communicate with others in a professional manner. F. Must be able to work independently and effectively with others. G. Must be able to maintain a consistent work schedule. H. Must have reliable transportation. I. Must be a current student at Kankakee Community College enrolled in six or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters. For summer employment, student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours in the summer term and/or six or more credit hours during fall semester. J. Student is required to read and agree to the KCC Student Employment Agreement. K. Federal Work-Study students should also read and agree to the program rules and regulations. L. Work schedule and hours may vary and are determined by each department's need. Maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Maximum of 29 hours when classes are not in session or during the summer. M. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn. Supplemental Information May work up to a max of 20 hours per week during the spring/fall semesters or up to 29 hours when classes are not in session or during the summer term.
