This is not an entry-level dental assisting position. We are looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of chairside assisting and can confidently contribute within a busy general dentistry practice. What You'll Do:
-Chairside Assisting & Clinical Support As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with our dentists and clinical team to provide efficient, high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, and procedure trays accurately before each appointment. Review the day's schedule and anticipate the clinical needs of the provider. Review patient medical histories, treatment plans, radiographs, and relevant chart information before treatment. Seat patients and prepare them appropriately for procedures. Assist chairside during a variety of general dentistry procedures using effective four-handed dentistry techniques. Anticipate the dentist's needs and maintain an organized, efficient clinical workflow. Take diagnostic-quality dental radiographs in accordance with applicable standards. Accurately document clinical information in the patient's electronic record. Provide patients with clear preoperative and postoperative instructions as directed by the provider. Help patients feel comfortable, respected, and cared for throughout their visit. -Expanded Clinical Skills Depending upon training, certification, and applicable Georgia requirements, responsibilities may include: Taking impressions and digital scans Fabricating temporary crowns and restorations Placing sealants Packing retraction cord Pouring and trimming models Fabricating whitening trays and simple dental appliances Isolation and dental dam placement Other expanded-duty functions permitted by training and applicable regulations Candidates with strong expanded-duty skills are especially encouraged to apply. -Sterilization, Safety & Infection Control Every member of our clinical team shares responsibility for maintaining a safe and exceptionally clean environment.
You will:
Follow established infection-control and sterilization protocols. Properly clean, disinfect, and prepare operatories between patients. Process and sterilize instruments and handpieces appropriately. Maintain sterilization records and required documentation. Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and practice safety protocols. Identify and communicate concerns regarding equipment, instruments, materials, or clinical safety. -Clinical Organization & Team Support Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked operatories. Monitor clinical supplies and communicate inventory needs before supplies become critical. Help maintain smooth patient flow throughout the clinical schedule. Communicate effectively with doctors, hygienists, administrative team members, and other Dental Assistants. Support fellow team members when needed while maintaining responsibility for your own assigned duties. Participate in team meetings, training, continuing education, and professional development. Experience & Qualifications Required:
Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on dental assisting experience Working knowledge of dental terminology and common general dentistry procedures Experience providing chairside assistance during restorative and other general dentistry procedures Ability to prepare operatories and anticipate procedural needs Experience taking diagnostic-quality dental radiographs Knowledge of sterilization, infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements Strong understanding of patient confidentiality Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred:
2-5+ years of dental assisting experience Expanded Duties training/certification Experience with digital impressions/scanning Strong temporary crown fabrication skills Experience with impressions, models, whitening trays, and other basic laboratory procedures Experience with CareStack, Eaglesoft, Mango, or comparable dental technology Current CPR certification Schedule Candidates must have flexibility to work within practice hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, depending upon location and scheduling needs.
