Duties Assist dentists during complex procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence. Take and develop dental radiographs, including X-ray and 3D scans, ensuring adherence to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment—dental chairs, X-ray machines, dental sterilization procedures—is properly set up and maintained. Perform vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care in general dentistry settings. Support patient management by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and assisting with patient comfort and education. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during clinical procedures. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection control protocols. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray units, 3D scanners, and other digital imaging tools within a clinical setting. Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate medical records management. Ability to perform dental sterilization procedures adhering to strict infection prevention policies while maintaining aseptic technique. Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with patients as a dental receptionist or patient care advocate.
