Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, root canals, and oral surgeries, using chairside assisting techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all clinical supplies are stocked and ready for use. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including intraoral and extraoral images, adhering to infection control standards and radiation safety protocols. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or OpenDental, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Perform dental instrument processing by sterilizing tools according to infection prevention management policies and maintaining aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care, especially in pediatric dentistry or patients with special needs. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control procedures aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and the importance of regular dental visits to promote ongoing oral health. Qualifications Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong background in chairside assisting and dental instrument processing. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or OpenDental; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical documentation standards. Hands-on experience with dental radiography (X-ray) techniques and proficiency in taking high-quality images while adhering to safety protocols. Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control practices. Ability to perform clinical procedures related to pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties as needed. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and provide compassionate patient care. Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, maintaining clinical supplies, and supporting administrative functions efficiently.
