Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, while maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their dental health. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), ensuring accurate documentation of medical records, treatment notes, and coding. Maintain dental equipment, sterilize instruments using aseptic techniques, and ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols aligned with healthcare standards. Monitor patient vital signs before procedures, ensuring safety during treatments involving sedation or pediatric dentistry cases. Support the dental team with chairside assisting, including preparing materials, handling dental supplies, and managing medical imaging procedures. Uphold HIPAA compliance by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information and ensuring secure handling of medical records. Experience Proven experience as a dental hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office setting. Familiarity with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and procedures is a strong advantage. Demonstrated ability in four-handed dentistry techniques to improve workflow efficiency. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, dental terminology, and infection control practices. Experience performing dental x-rays (dental radiography) with attention to safety protocols. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on oral health topics.
