Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting all procedures, assessments, and patient interactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific patient care strategies. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining radiation safety standards. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, explaining treatment plans clearly, and fostering positive relationships. Expertise in infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards for infection prevention management.
