In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing dental cleanings, assessments, and education while ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for every patient. Your expertise will help promote optimal oral health, support treatment plans, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations. Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays), ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Follow infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing infection control measures diligently. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and EHR management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and medical coding practices. Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while adhering to radiation safety standards. Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration; experience in client communication is highly valued. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and equipment sterilization procedures.
